The 20th-Anniversary torch relay - Ol Moran Zone

The celebration started with the coming together of volunteers and community members in Ol Moran Deliverance Church where St. Martin CSA handed over the anniversary torch to the community of Ol Moran. After prayers and a few speeches, all the participants left for the market place with a procession displaying messages of good-will and well wishes to St. Martin CSA.

The market place provided a perfect place to appreciate the community of Ol Moran for their commitment in the service towards the vulnerable people in their community. In particular, we wished to thank the community of Ol Moran for teaching us about faith and solidarity. Ol Moran is a semi-arid area with lots of hardships but this has not prevented the community from supporting the vulnerable people in the midst. As a community, they have taught us what faith is and how to be in solidarity with the needy.

olmoran 3 The celebrations continued at a smaller scale throughout the week. People gathered in small Christian communities and other organized groups to reflect deeper on the 20 years of service to the needy through St Martin CSA. The climax of this celebration was on Sunday, August 18, when we met Christians in three different churches i.e. the Deliverance Church, Kenya Assemblies of God and the Catholic Church. We gave them an input based on the gospel of the wedding at Cana guided by the theme "Footsteps of Gratitude and Openness". We concluded the Ol Moran celebration by handing over the anniversary torch to volunteers from the Sipili zone. Join us on August 24 and September 1 as we celebrate with the Sipili zone community, or do we say Spaniards as we fondly refer to them?

Jaza Kikapu - Fill the Basket

In 2020, we launched Jaza Kikapu (fill a basket) concept to mobilise resources to support poor women headed households. Jaza Kikapu goal is to enhance and promote the unique role played by women on the family, community and societal level by empowering them and creating an enabling environment for their full participation in the development agenda. Women play an indispensable role in community development as weavers of the social fabric and caregivers. It is broadly designed to uplift poor households through the potential of women and hereby enable them to fully participate in the development of the communities.

Building a Secure Environment for Children to Flourish

The Dumisha Amani project is driven by a crucial objective: to contribute to a secure environment where children can grow and develop. We recognize the profound impact of conflicts on children and young people, both directly and indirectly. In our project area, many children have suffered violations, been forced into perpetuating violence, and experienced the loss of loved ones. They have endured physical harm, displacement, education deprivation, and sexual abuse and exploitation. The consequences of conflict extend beyond the immediate, hindering economic and social development and impeding the holistic growth and development of children. With Dumisha Amani, we strive to create a brighter and safer future for every child.

Protect and Rescue children from Abusive situations

The programme rescues children facing harm as a result of physical, sexual, child marriage, FGM and emotional abuse, as well as neglect and exploitation. Street connected children are also rescued. They are provided with proper care in our rescue centres.

Upon rehabilitation, these children are reintegrated back into the community and provided with education support like school uniforms and fees where need be in order to settle them in schools. The programme also target vulnerable in Nyahururu sub-county who lack access to one or more basic needs and their rights are constantly abused. The programme support such children with schooling needs, resource mobilization from the community as well as advocating for their rights.

Treatment and Rehabilitation

Owing to the high number of people already affected by drug abuse and mental illness who cannot access rehabilitation and treatment services. The project identifies the most vulnerable clients for support to access rehabilitation and medical treatment services. The objective of these support services is to restore the dignity and functionality of those people who cannot independently or with the help of relatives access the retreatment and rehabilitation services. This includes partial payment for psychiatric assessment, inpatient psychiatric treatment and residential drug rehabilitation. Furthermore, the programme implements a community based mental health programme where clients shall be offered outpatient addiction counseling, Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation, peer support groups etc.
