St. Martin CSA Hosts Comundo Annual Meeting

Comundo Partners Meeting In St. Martin CSA, Nyahururu

Strengthening Vocational Training in Kenya: Comundo’s 2025 Annual Partner Meeting at St. Martin CSA

From May 4th to 7th, 2025, St. Martin CSA had the pleasure of hosting Comundo Staff, Coworkers, and 14 Partner Organizations from across Kenya – Coast, Kisumu, Laikipia, and Nairobi, for their Annual Partner Meeting. The event was held at the tranquil Thomson’s Falls Lodge in Nyahururu.

A Gathering of Change-Makers in TVET

The meeting brought together 33 participants representing Vocational Training Centres (VTCs), Medical Training Institution, County Government TVET departments, and Comundo’s Nairobi team. Themed “Centres of Vocational Expertise – COVEx”, the workshop focused on shared learning, strategic alignment, and program updates aimed at strengthening Kenya’s vocational and technical education sector.

Embracing the CoVEx Approach

A major outcome of the week was the engaging dialogue around the adoption of the Centres of Vocational Expertise (CoVEx) model. Partners explored how this approach can enhance the quality, relevance, and impact of vocational training across Kenya. By aligning resources and expertise, the CoVEx strategy promises to drive better educational outcomes and stronger pathways to employment for young people.

Community Visits

Participants visited Rumuruti Day Secondary School, where students showcased their active Amani Club and discussed the critical role of Comundo coworkers in empowering club patrons. This was followed by a tour of Rumuruti VTC, one of two pilot institutions supported under the St. Martin CSA Youth Project, in partnership with Laikipia County Government and Comundo.

These site visits demonstrated the practical impact of vocational training and peacebuilding efforts and emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement in shaping effective interventions.

Looking Ahead

This gathering reaffirmed the value of partnerships, open dialogue, and shared purpose in achieving sustainable development in TVET. St. Martin CSA is proud to contribute to this momentum and remains committed to championing youth empowerment through skills development and collaborative innovation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Comundo, all partner organizations, and every participant who made the 2025 Annual Meeting a resounding success.
