From February 11th to 13th, 2026, representatives from L’Arche Kenya, Talitha Kum, and Saint Martin CSA came together for a three-day training. The objective was to move acquire knowledge the art of building Strategic Partnerships.
This capacity-building opportunity was made possible by the Strengthening Organizational Reach Influence and Impact Project (SORIIP), which is generously funded by our partners at FAI.
What is a Strategic Partnership?
A major focus of the training was learning to tell the difference between a transactional partnership and a strategic one.
Transactional Partnerships: These are often short-term and focused on a single task or project (like a “business deal”).
Strategic Partnerships: these are deep, long-term commitments where organizations align their visions and pool their resources to create a much bigger, lasting change than they could achieve alone.
The sessions provided our teams with practical tools to manage these relationships, including:
Partnership Mapping: Identifying which organizations are the best fit for our mission.
Stakeholder Analysis: Understanding everyone who has an interest in our work and how to engage them.
Managing Power Dynamics: Ensuring that even when working with larger or more influential groups, the relationship remains fair, respectful, and balanced.

Reflections from the Training
The staff in attendance shared how these new tools will change the way they approach their daily work and community outreach.
A Note of Gratitude
We want to express our profound gratitude to FAI for their support. Through SORIIP, they are helping our organizations grow more influential and effective. By investing in our ability to form Strategic Partnerships, FAI is helping us build a stronger foundation for greater impact of our respective missions.
